What is Outbreak Survival? Well let me explain.....
Outbreak Survival (or OS for short) is a fast paced, multiplayer humans vs zombies survival game, built on Roblox by hoshpup! (that's me)
What originally started out as an inspiration from the game Counter Strike's zombie mod. Turned into a unique game running of off Roblox user Stealth Pilot's game engine, and continued to do so until mid 2013, but we'll get to that later.
The game's objective is to survive against player controlled zombies within the time limit if you are human, or infect all the humans if you are a zombie. Players defend themselves by using a variety of weapons which can be bought in the in-game shop for Points. Zombies infect players and turn them into zombies by bloxxing* them.
Points are earned each time a player bloxxes a zombie or infects a human. Points are auto saved with data persistence.
The Shop is an on screen GUI that you can access at any time. Once an item is bought the Points are deducted from the player and then you receive the tool.
The time players have to survive varies depending on what update for the game you look at. For example the current update: Mini Edition is set at 10 minutes. But it has been set as low as 7 minutes and as high as 18 minutes before. The game ends when all players are infected or a least one human survives. In either case, after the round is over all the players are reset and the next round begins.
At the start of each round players are randomly selected to become zombies. The number varies depending on how many people are in the server, for instance if there are 4 players, two will be selected. But if there is 10 then 3 will be selected.
Player's tools are saved with Badges, but they used to be saved with data persistence.
Since the game's official start (mid June) it has gone through drastic changes and improvements, which I will be covering in later posts. But until then, enjoy the game :)
*(for those unfamiliar with the word bloxx, it is a Roblox term used in place of kill or defeat)
